Applications will be accepted up to 90 days after the posting date, or until the position is filled (whichever is first).Job Summary:The Senior Director of Maintenance Planning & Project Management is responsible for leading all aspects of maintenance projects, from conception to completion, in partnership with appropriate Resort leadership. This role involves developing strategic plans, implementing best practices, and optimizing maintenance processes across the enterprise to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and safety.Job Specifications:

  • The budgeted range starts at $168,719 – $185,000 + annual bonus + equity. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience

Job Responsibilities:1. Strategic Planning – Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in maintenance planning processes.2. Project Management – In partnership with resort leadership, provide an Enterprise lens to maintenance planning and project management, including:

  • Planning and execution of maintenance and infrastructure upgrades
  • Coordination with stakeholders and external contractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications
  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of completed projects and recommendations for future improvements

3. Team Leadership – Provide strong expertise and leadership to the maintenance planning team, providing guidance and support to ensure that projects meet quality standards and organizational objectives. Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement4. Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) – Project leader for the EAM introduction across the Maintenance functions; In support of the EAM strategy, will partner with the VP of Maintenance Projects, resort teams, and EAM Steering Committee to ensure a successful implementation5. Budgeting and Cost Control – Support Resort Maintenance leadership teams in the development and management of their project budgets and overall maintenance department budget, including forecasting, monitoring, and controlling expenses. With an Enterprise POV, identify cost-saving opportunities and implement initiatives to optimize maintenance spending while maintaining safety, quality and reliability6. Compliance and Safety – Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies related to maintenance activities. Prioritize safety in all maintenance activities, implementing safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks to personnel and assets.7. Performance Metrics and Reporting – Define and develop tracking for key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of maintenance planning processes and project management/execution, and track performance against targets. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.9. Continuous Improvement – Utilize established feedback methods to identify areas for improvement and partner with resort teams to identify and implement actionable solutions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in maintenance operations. Stay abreast of maintenance and ski industry trends and news; grow industry relationships and expertise. Use expertise to influence positive change throughout Vail Resort.10. Vendor Management – In partnership with resort leadership and procurement teams, provide an Enterprise lens to ensure consistency in evaluation and selection of external vendors, contractors, and service providers for maintenance support. Support contract negotiations, relationship management and vendor accountability to quality, cost, and timeline requirements as appropriateThis job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the role and is not exhaustive.   • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset in approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to ski resort operations and maintenance.
  • Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and the guest experience.

Preferred

  • Proficiency in maintenance management software and tools, such as computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and enterprise asset management (EAM) systems.
  • Experience in maintenance planning, asset management, or related roles, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $168,719 – $185,000 + annual bonus + equity. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.Job Benefits
