Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Introduction

The New York City Campaign Finance Board is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives supporting New York City’s voter engagement, public communications, and democratic participation programs. This role combines hands-on project delivery with strategic process improvement, ensuring large-scale public-facing initiatives are delivered efficiently while continuously enhancing workflows, governance, and collaboration across teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies and the ability to select the appropriate approach based on project complexity, risk, and stakeholder needs.
  • Strong experience designing and improving project workflows, governance structures, and operational processes.
  • Knowledge of change management principles and leading teams through evolving priorities and organizational change.
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships across multiple business units, vendors, and external partners.
  • Strong understanding of project risk identification, mitigation planning, and escalation management.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Monday.com, Ziflow, or similar collaboration platforms.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial management, vendor oversight, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards including WCAG 2.1/2.2 and Section 508 compliance.
  • Excellent project leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining strong quality assurance and documentation practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Five or more years managing large, cross-functional projects.
  • Experience overseeing projects with budgets exceeding $1 million.
  • Experience developing project governance frameworks, dashboards, templates, and PMO processes.
  • Experience managing digital communications or technology-enabled projects.
  • Knowledge of languages in addition to English.
  • Experience working with diverse, immigrant, disabled, or justice-impacted communities.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and plain-language communications.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead complex cross-functional projects from planning through successful execution.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, governance structures, communication plans, and accountability frameworks.
  • Identify operational risks early and implement effective mitigation and escalation strategies.
  • Coordinate stakeholders with competing priorities while driving alignment and timely decision-making.
  • Improve project systems, workflows, documentation, and collaboration processes across the organization.
  • Manage vendors, project budgets, resource planning, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure digital and print deliverables comply with accessibility and quality standards.
  • Recommend new tools, technologies, and operational improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
