Are you passionate about cloud computing, large scale distributed systems engineering problems and working on bleeding edge technology at massive scale? The Microsoft Azure Storage Engineering team is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager with large-scale storage and network infrastructure experience to enhance our software infrastructure. You will be responsible for working with software engineering teams on product requirements, design, and establishing and managing program schedules for large scale Azure Storage infrastructure programs in the networking space to improve scalability and reliability of the service. You will have the opportunity to solve some of the toughest problems in hyperscale cloud platforms, identify and recommend business investments in a broad range of technical areas, and integrate with multiple partner teams inside Microsoft Azure as well as across the company.As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for identifying new technologies and productizing them from a proof of concept to production by working closely with Software and Hardware engineering teams within Azure, and hardware manufacturers and suppliers.Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.   • You will partner with Software and Hardware Engineering to design technical solutions across feature areas. You’ll also identify risks and propose data-based mitigations.
  • You’ll define success criteria and create relationships for implementing features for complex cross-functional projects. You’ll coordinate and ensure alignment across organizations.
  • You will deliver on roadmap for multiple feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation plan, and manage governance programs.
  • You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and writing test cases from scratch. You’ll also lead teams to partner with other departments to collect performance metrics, drive customer support, and lead direct customer engagements.
  • You will work closely with our engineering teams to identify and solve complex problems in the storage and networking domain, develop and maintain architecture documents, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in storage and network architecture and design.
  • You will Proactively identify and analyze complex, long-term, critical infrastructure problems with engineering leaders and stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 2+ years of experience working on hyperscale cloud infrastructure environment.
  • 4+ years of experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis,
  • OR product development
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.
  • Experience in Network protocols (RoCE, IB, Ethernet) and Network Infrastructure including Network Storage, L2/L3 Networking, VNETs, VLANs
  • Experience working with large scale distributed systems

Technical Program Management IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 – $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 – $238,600 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
